SID&T Responds to the New York Times Story: Organ Transplant System in Chaos

The New York Times’ recent investigation, “Organ Transplant System ‘in Chaos’ as Waiting Lists Are Ignored,” was a worthy attempt to untangle the fraught and dysfunctional relationship between the organ donation and transplantation system and their federal regulators. But in attempting to indict the system for increased use of Out of Sequence (OOS) organ allocation, the Times only told half the story and missed opportunities to report on the new realities, good and bad, affecting transplant.
